As Marketing Coordinator, Alys supports PEHA’s marketing efforts by devising and executing campaigns, coordinating marketing activities, and assisting in strategic planning and analysis. Although originally from Brisbane, Alys joins us from New Zealand, where she obtained her degree in Marketing & Communications at the University of Waikato. Alys has over six years of experience within the healthcare industry, which includes involvement in health-related project planning and advocation. Alys is thoroughly enjoying the sunshine and vibrant energy of her new city lifestyle. On weekends, she has been embracing her inner tourist and exploring everything Brisbane has to offer.

With a background in healthcare recruitment, Ella plays a key role in welcoming medical talent to PEHA. As Recruitment Coordinator, Ella specialises in guiding new doctors through every step of the onboarding process—from initial outreach and interviews, to credentialing and orientation. Passionate about building strong teams that deliver high-quality patient care, Ella combines attention to detail with a people-first approach to ensure each hire feels supported and set up for success. Ella's background in healthcare staffing has equipped her with a deep understanding of clinical environments and the importance of matching the right professionals to the right roles. Outside of her work at PEHA, Ella enjoys AFL, playing in the Queensland State League, and supporting the Brisbane Lions.

Dr Khalid Yousif

Dr Khalid Yousif

Dr. Yousif is an experienced Senior Consultant of eighteen years, with a focus on Emergency Medicine & Trauma, Adults and Paediatrics. Having worked and studied in both Australia and New Zealand, he is a fellow of the Royal Australasian College for Emergency Medicine. He holds full vocational registration with both AHPRA and NZMC. Dr. Yousif has published several original research papers with the Emergency Medicine Australasia Journal and the British Medical Journal. He is also a supervisor and instructor of Emergency Medicine Diploma & Certificate candidates for the ACEM College. Dr. Yousif provides oversight to emergency departments, including supervising junior staff, liaising with various medical and surgical specialities, bed managers, chief executives, and ambulance officers and paramedics.

Emeka is a senior staff specialist in Emergency Medicine with over 20 years of experience, including 12 years as a staff specialist. Emeka's career has encompassed both clinical excellence and leadership in emergency services. Throughout his career, Emeka has held key leadership positions, including Director for Emergency Medicine Training, Local Work-Based Coordinator, and Senior Clinical Director for Emergency Services on the Fraser Coast. During his time at Fraser Coast, Emeka was instrumental in establishing a unique Clinical Decision Unit under the governance of the Emergency Department, which enhanced patient flow and quality of care. I have a special interest in clinical education, trauma, and critical care.

David oversees the clinical management of Hobart Private Hospital ED, providing patient care and ensuring a high standard of clinical care and patient satisfaction across the site. David has more than 20 years of emergency department experience and has been active in teaching, research, and clinical leadership in the public and private sectors. He is passionate about emergency department systems and applying the latest research to provide an exceptional patient experience. When not working, David divides his time between his wife and children, 26 animals of all shapes and sizes, and making wooden furniture.                    I strive to provide bespoke, patient-centred care to everyone we see in the emergency department.

Dr Muhammad Umer Ihsan

Dr. Muhammad Umer Ihsan, MBBS, MD, FACEM, CCPU, AFRACMA, is the Site Director at the Mater Private Hospital Rockhampton Emergency Care Centre. With over 17 years of clinical and academic experience across Pakistan, the UK, USA, and Australia, he is a certified emergency physician and educator with a special focus on ultrasound and simulation-based training. He has held leadership roles in emergency medicine education, developed curricula, and authored training tools aligned with ACEM standards. Dr. Ihsan is also an ultrasound fellowship supervisor and a pioneer in medical simulation software development aimed at enhancing clinical decision-making and education.

Dr John Groemer is a member of PEHA’s Clinical Advisory Board and also sees patients as an emergency medical officer across PEHA sites. Dr Groemer has over 25 years of medical experience and provided General Practice services to the Department of Defence for 15 years. Dr Groemer has extensive teaching and training experience, including supervising International Medical graduates, training registrars, and implementing educational programs for medical staff.

Associate Professor Greg Treston is an experienced Emergency Specialist who has worked extensively in public and private Emergency Medicine across Australia. As a specialist in Rural and Remote medicine, he has also worked at isolated rural health centres in both Australia and around the world. He has a strong interest in practical, clinical research. He has authored or co-authored Emergency Medicine research papers for over 20 years, as well as numerous presentations at local, national, and international Emergency Medicine and Anaesthetic conferences. As Director of Emergency Medicine across a number of sites, he has driven improvement in Emergency Medicine performance metrics to facilitate safer, more timely patient management, facilitating better access to care for patients.

Currently serving as the Practice Manager at the Mater Private Hospital Rockhampton Emergency Care Centre.  Krystal excels in team leadership, operational management, and patient care coordination. With a strong background in both hospital and private practice settings, Krystal is skilled in scheduling, staff training, and maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations. Her expertise spans multiple healthcare software systems and administrative functions. Known for her reliability, leadership, and excellent customer service, Krystal is committed to fostering collaborative work environments and delivering exceptional patient experiences.

Kerry oversees the daily administrative operations of the Townsville Mater Emergency Department, working closely with PEHA doctors, Mater nursing, and administrative staff to ensure the site runs smoothly and delivers exceptional patient care. With over 25 years of experience in the private medical sector, primarily in Specialist Care. Kerry joined PEHA in 2023 as a Practice Manager. Her role is dynamic and multifaceted, offering continual opportunities for personal and professional growth within the fast-paced environment of Emergency Care. Kerry is dedicated to fostering a supportive, compassionate environment for both staff and patients, especially during what is often a challenging time in their lives.

Michelle McLennan brings extensive experience in healthcare administration and customer service to her role as Practice Manager at the Mater Private Hospital Mackay Emergency Care Centre. With a background in administration roles in healthcare and retail sectors, Michelle is highly skilled in operational management, ensuring efficient processes and a seamless patient experience. Since joining PEHA in 2019, she has become the organisation’s most experienced practice manager, known for her attention to detail, and commitment to excellence in healthcare delivery.

Rachel manages the day-to-day operations of Hobart’s Emergency Department, overseeing everything from rostering and travel logistics to accommodation arrangements for doctors and billing processes. With a strong focus on efficiency and team coordination, she plays a key role in ensuring the department runs smoothly. Before joining the Peha team, Rachel spent nine years at Hobart Private, where she built a solid foundation in healthcare operations. Rachel greets each team member with a warm “Good morning,” often reminding them, “It’s not how you finished yesterday, but how you start today that can make all the difference. If we can help just one person begin their day on a better note, it’s worth it.”
