PEHA began partnering with the Hobart Private Hospital in 2021. Hobart Private Hospital is a leading local facility that provides a range of clinical services, including general and specialty medical and surgical, gynaecology, cardiology and angiography.

Conditions that are treatable at Hobart Private Hospital Emergency Department:

  • Urinary problems and infections
  • Skin problems
  • Injuries: Broken bones, sprains, wounds and burns.
  • Chest and Abdominal Pain: Investigation and assessment of non-critical cases.
  • Breathing difficulties and respiratory infections
  • Post-Surgical Complications: Particularly for patients who have undergone procedures at Hobart Private Hospital.
  • Paediatric Care: Treatment of minor injuries (cuts, sprains, and fractures) in children aged two to eighteen (specialist paediatric services are not available).

David oversees the clinical management of Hobart Private Hospital ED, providing patient care and ensuring a high standard of clinical care and patient satisfaction across the site. David has more than 20 years of emergency department experience and has been active in teaching, research, and clinical leadership in the public and private sectors. He is passionate about emergency department systems and applying the latest research to provide an exceptional patient experience. When not working, David divides his time between his wife and children, 26 animals of all shapes and sizes, and making wooden furniture.                    I strive to provide bespoke, patient-centred care to everyone we see in the emergency department.

Jessica McGaffin is the Practice Manager at PEHA Hobart, leading the day-to-day operations of the Emergency Department with a focus on exceptional patient care, operational excellence, and positive experiences for patients, doctors, and staff. She has extensive experience across emergency care, surgical services, paediatric dentistry, ophthalmology, cardiology, and community health in both private hospitals and specialist practices. Passionate about collaboration and continuous improvement, Jessica is known for her approachable leadership style, strong operational focus, and commitment to supporting teams to deliver safe, compassionate, patient-centred care.
