In early June, the University of Queensland Business School hosted an information breakfast featuring guest speakers Professor Rita Agarwal and Professor Xitong Guo. Andrea Cracknell, PEHA’s General Manager, attended the event alongside other industry professionals to discuss artificial intelligence and its role in the future of healthcare.

Key learnings from the session included how the impact of artificial intelligence can be measured in the healthcare sector, as well as other emerging trends, such as improving prevention, enhancing wellbeing, and addressing workforce needs.

Professor Agarwal’s discussion on broadening the traditional realm of health information technology was particularly insightful, sparking an open dialogue on how AI can make the healthcare system safer, more accessible, and more affordable for all. The panel also explored how new technological developments can be leveraged to advance theory and influence both practice and policy.
